Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter

Color & Decoration

  • Green food coloring (enough to achieve desired shade)
  • Candy eyes (as many as needed for decorating)
  • Black frosting (for hair and mouth)
  • Black sprinkles (optional, for added texture on hair)

Instructions

  1. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and smooth.
  2. Add Green Food Coloring: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in green food coloring a few drops at a time until you reach your desired shade of green typical of Frankenstein’s skin.
  3. Mix in Rice Krispies: Add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir well to ensure all the cereal is evenly coated with the green marshmallow mixture.
  4. Press into Baking Dish: Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Use a spatula or wax paper to press down the mixture firmly and evenly.
  5. Cut into Rectangles: Allow the treats to cool and set completely. Once set, cut the Rice Krispie mixture into rectangular bars, resembling Frankenstein’s face.
  6. Decorate: Decorate each bar by placing candy eyes on the top center. Use black frosting to pipe Frankenstein’s hair and mouth. Add black sprinkles on the frosting if desired to create textured hair.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve these festive Frankenstein Rice Krispie Bars at your Halloween party or as a fun snack for kids and guests.

Notes

  • Use wax paper or a spatula to press the mixture into the pan to prevent sticking.
  • Adjust the amount of green food coloring to achieve your preferred shade.
  • Substitute mini marshmallows for large marshmallows if mini are unavailable; just chop large marshmallows for faster melting.
  • Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • For a dairy-free version, use a vegan butter substitute.
  • Be creative with decorations—colored icing or other Halloween candies can be used for different facial features.
