Ingredients

Scale

For the Pizza Dough

  • 1 ball pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • Flour or cornmeal, for dusting

For the Toppings

  • ½ cup tomato sauce or pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup whole milk ricotta cheese, dolloped
  • 2025 slices pepperoni
  • 12 tablespoons hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)
  • Red pepper flakes, for extra heat (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Oven and Dough: Preheat your oven to 500°F (260°C) or as hot as it will go. Place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to preheat for at least 30 minutes. Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface into a 12-inch round.
  2. Assemble the Pizza: Spread tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce. Arrange the pepperoni slices evenly on top of the mozzarella. Dollop the ricotta cheese evenly around the pizza in spoonfuls.
  3. Bake: Carefully transfer the assembled pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 8–12 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is bubbling and slightly browned.
  4. Add Hot Honey and Garnish: As soon as the pizza comes out of the oven, drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of hot honey over the top. Add fresh basil leaves for aroma and color, and sprinkle red pepper flakes if you desire extra heat. Slice the pizza and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Preheating the pizza stone or baking sheet ensures a crispier crust.
  • Adjust the amount of hot honey to taste depending on your preference for sweetness and spiciness.
  • Fresh basil adds a fragrant herbal note but can be omitted if unavailable.
  • For homemade pizza dough, ensure it has rested enough for better elasticity and flavor.
  • Use whole milk ricotta for creamier texture; part-skim ricotta may alter the texture slightly.
