Ingredients

Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • ⅓ Cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature
  • ⅓ Cup Brown Sugar
  • ⅓ Cup Peanut Butter (Chunky or Creamy)
  • 1 Large Egg, room temperature

Dry Ingredients

  • ¾ Cup All Purpose Flour
  • ¼ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt

Instructions

  1. Whisk Dry Ingredients: In a small bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Set aside for later use.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, add the room temperature unsalted butter and brown sugar. Using an electric mixer, beat until light and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed to ensure even mixing.
  3. Add Peanut Butter: Add the peanut butter to the creamed mixture. Mix until fully incorporated, scraping sides of the bowl to combine thoroughly.
  4. Incorporate Egg: Crack in the room temperature egg and blend it into the mixture until evenly combined, again scraping down the bowl sides if necessary.
  5. Add Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the whisked dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Mix on low speed until just combined to avoid overworking the dough.
  6. Press Dough into Pan: Transfer the dough into a 9-inch pie pan. Using your hands, a dough tamper, or the flat bottom of a glass dipped in flour, press dough evenly along the bottom and up the sides of the pan.
  7. Dock the Crust: Pierce the bottom and sides of the dough crust with a fork about 15 times. This helps prevent bubbles during baking.
  8. Chill the Crust: Place the prepared pie crust into the refrigerator while you preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Chilling helps the crust hold its shape during baking.
  9. Bake the Crust: Once the oven has reached the correct temperature, bake the pie crust for 12 minutes until lightly golden and set.
  10. Cool: Remove the crust from the oven and allow it to cool completely before adding your favorite pie filling.

Notes

  • You can use either chunky or creamy peanut butter depending on your texture preference.
  • Room temperature ingredients help ensure a smooth and even dough mixture.
  • Pressing the dough evenly and docking is essential to prevent shrinkage and air bubbles.
  • Store any leftover crust in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days or freeze it for longer storage.
  • This crust pairs beautifully with chocolate, banana cream, or traditional peanut butter pies.
