Ingredients

Scale

For the Sliders:

  • 12 slider rolls (Hawaiian rolls or brioche sliders)
  • 1.5 lbs thinly sliced ham
  • 1 lb Swiss cheese, sliced
  • ½ cup dill pickle slices (or more to taste; recommended: thinly sliced Grillo’s pickles)
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp Dijon mustard

For the Garlic Pickle Butter:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds (optional)
  • ½ tsp pickle seasoning
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the sliders.
  2. Make the Garlic Pickle Butter: In a small saucepan over low heat, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter. Stir in the minced garlic, pickle seasoning, and pickle juice. Once combined, set this flavorful butter mixture aside.
  3. Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly grease the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish with a thin layer of the garlic pickle butter to prevent sticking. Using parchment paper is optional for easier cleanup.
  4. Slice the Rolls: Keeping the slider rolls connected, slice them horizontally in half to create a top and bottom layer. Place the bottom half neatly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Add the Mayo-Mustard Spread: In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard until well combined. Spread this mixture evenly across the inside of the top half of the slider rolls.
  6. Layer the Fillings: On the bottom layer of rolls inside the baking dish, evenly layer the sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and dill pickle slices. Then place the top half of the rolls over the filling, pressing lightly to secure.
  7. Brush with Butter and Add Poppy Seeds: Generously brush the remaining garlic pickle butter over the tops of the assembled sliders. If using, sprinkle the poppy seeds evenly on top.
  8. Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Finish and Serve: Once baked, sprinkle fresh chopped parsley over the sliders for a burst of color and flavor. Allow the sliders to cool slightly before slicing and serving warm.

Notes

  • Use Hawaiian rolls for a sweeter, softer slider or brioche rolls for richer flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the amount of pickles based on your personal preference for tanginess.
  • Poppy seeds are optional but add a nice texture and visual appeal.
  • For easier cleanup, line the baking dish with parchment paper under the rolls.
  • Leftover sliders can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
